About Urban Matter

Urban Matter is a platform for sharing architectural projects and ideas by Alexander Chemyakin conceived within his own architectural practice or in collaboration with the other architectural offices.

With over twenty years of professional experience in residential, retail, office, hospitality architecture and urban design, he worked in and with multiple Dutch and international offices doing projects all across Europe. Trained in both Russia and the Netherlands Alexander’s international background gives him an understanding of the diverse architectural and cultural context across the borders.

Based in Amsterdam he has a unique passion for a complex large scale mixed-use developments. In the rapidly evolving world, he challenges conventional design processes. Driven by a believe in a more dynamic and flexible approach Alexander explores the limits of user-centered analysis and context research to design new architectural models for better living and working.
